Default Some Factions Questions...

I was unsure if this should be posted in the Q&A section, but here goes...

I've spent the better part of several hours over the last week or so trying to glean what information I can about the workings of factions and alliances in GW:F from wherever I can, and some questions are left unanswered. Perhaps because there is no official answer yet, or perhaps because I just haven't found them yet. Here's what I'm trying to find out:

1. I've heard (supposedly quoted to me from a Jeff Strain interview) that guilds in an Alliance will take on the cape of their alliance leader's guild. Can somone confirm with a link?

2. Will choosing a faction for the guild be something done early in the game or later? Is it something you have to build up to?

2b. Same question, but for alliances

3. If a guild leader chooses a faction for his guild, and his members still quest for the other side, what will be the effects?

4. How are alliances formed?

5. Will guilds/alliances be able to switch factions should they change their minds?

I have read much speculation on some of these questions, nothing at all about others. I have yet to find any substantial "official" answer on any of them. By official I mean from the GW site, an interview with a Dev, Gaile chat or Frog talk. If you answer with speculation, please note it as such. If you are giving me an official answer, please point me in the direction of the source. I'm rather concerned with the functioning of a guild's role in an alliance, as well as the workings of faction choice and alliance choice on the members of my guild. We have several friendly guilds with whom we are considering alliances, and also have yet to decide on a faction for the guild to join. The consequences of our choices are unknown, which makes choosing difficult indeed.

Thanks!

1. -> haven't heard about it, though I read an interview related to that wherein if I remember and understood it correctly, he said that they are considering an option where an Alliance can set up a "logo" independent from the member guild's emblems.

2. -> the guild do not choose an allegiance per se, it is the "Alliance" that chooses the allegiance and affects all current and future member-guilds of that alliance.

3. -> I did this during FPE, just allowed me to finish the 10,000 faction point quest. Others reported that they got bugged, and no NPCs will talk to them anymore in any of the factions. Coz if you do the 10,000 faction quest, you gain 'friendship' status and the NPCs will talk to you until your alliance choose a faction.

4. -> We do not have an info yet, but more likely similar as to inviting a new member in a guild.

5. -> Alliances yes, for as long as you want. If I'm not mistaken, you'll lose your alliance's standing and go back to the beginning. Again, a guild can not choose, it is the alliance that chooses.

What do I mean by a guild not choosing a faction?
During the FPE, a guild is an alliance on its own. Meaning, during FPE, we are literally in an "alliance" - our "own guild-alliance". Thus it appears that a "guild" can choose an allegiance. When in fact, it is the "Alliance" that chooses an allegiance and not the "guild".

Thus, if your guild will join an existing Alliance, whatever that Alliance's current allegiance is, that will be your guild and your members' allegiance will be as well.

If the Alliance hasn't chosen any side yet, then everybody will have to finish the 10,000 faction quest for either side so the NPCs will start talking to you (I wasn't able to check if this quest is account based or character based).

If the Alliance your guild joined into is allied to an opposing faction that your character is friendly with:
1) You will automatically gain friendship status to the Alliance's faction-side
2) You might lose friendship status with your current individual-faction-side. (<-- not sure)

- These are all but speculations, but considering what we've learned and tested ourselves during the FPE, this is how things worked during the event. I heard they're changing alot, so by final release, things might work very differently.

Again, do not confuse an Alliance choosing an allegiance to a guild choosing an allegiance. A guild can not choose an allegiance, it is the 'Alliance' that chooses it. If you want your guild to choose its side, your guild must first establish an alliance on its own. And I believe come final, all guilds are by default an "alliance-on-its-own". Thus for guilds to form alliances, the other joining-guilds will have to disband their own-alliance first or maybe it will be automaticaly disbanded once you join an alliance.

As for deciding your alliance, in the FPE there was a man that got you to 'sign up' your loyalty to the luxons... it cost about 500 in gold as well.
